“Copa-Loca”, the short film by Christos Massalas has qualified for the Oscars 2019 and is the only short film representing Greece this year.

The film received Oscar-Qualifying awards at Festival Nouveau Cinema in Montreal and Leeds International Film Festival.

Following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Directors’ Fortnight 2017, “Copa-Loca” screened at over 100 film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, Sarajevo, AFI Fest and Reykjavik. The film also screened at MoMA for New Directors/New Films.

Among its many accolades, “Copa-Loca” was nominated for the European Film Award and won the Greek Academy Award 2018.

Christos Massalas was born in Greece, 1986. He studied Filmmaking at the London Film School. He is currently preparing his debut feature titled “Broadway”, which was selected for the Sundance Lab.
